TK-MS-OP1608 platform comprises of aggregation side cards and tributary side cards. It is a 3U high device, containing 19 unit cards which include two hot backup power cards, a network management card, two uplink aggregation optical interface cards or electrical interface cards or SDH cross connection cards, and 14 tributary cards.
The power cards, network management cards, and two uplink aggregation cards or SDH cross connection cards are put in fixed slots. The other 14 are tributary card general-purpose slots. General-purpose slots 4 and 11 are Ethernet aggregation slots. When Ethernet aggregation card is configured, Ethernet service can be aggregated. The uplink aggregation optical interface cards support STM-1, STM-4, and STM-16 SDH optical ports. The uplink aggregation electrical interface cards support STM-1 electrical port, and downlink tributary optical interface cards support STM-4 and STM-1 SDH optical ports.
The device can be connected to various link partner devices with standard STM-4 and STM-1 SDH optical ports and directly transmit services. The STM-4 tributary optical interface cards are always put in type A slots (slot 7/8). The tributary cards support E1, E3/DS3, V.35, DSL, STM-1 optical port, STM-4 optical port, access and aggregation of Ethernet, order/overhead/clock, DS0 cross connection, optical wavelength division multiplex/demultiplex and other functions. The device can be used to construct star network, ring network, tangent rings network. The tributary optical card can also construct rings downward, forming various complex network topologies.
The aggregation optical interface cards include dual-STM-1/STM-4/ STM-16 and 4-port STM-1 network interface units (aggregation). Each end of device has four or eight aggregation optical ports, and can be connected to backbone layer SDH/MSTP network so as to aggregate VC-12 services or VC-3/VC-4 services from tributaries to uplink SDH signal, or construct complex transmission network independently. Depending on the selected tributary cards and the type of the link partner device, the service borne by VC-12 is E1 signal or Ethernet or V.35 data. The service borne by VC-3 is E3/DS3 signal. The two aggregation optical interface cards’ four channels or eight channels of uplink STM-1 and four channels of STM-4/STM-16 can independently bear non-protective service with a bandwidth of 4. 8.16 .64 of VC-4, 12.24. 48.192 of VC-3, 252. 504.1008.4032 of VC-12, carry Sub-Network Connection Protection of VC-12, VC-3, VC-4 levels for specified service. Protection of two optical ports inside a card and protection of optical/electrical ports from different aggregation cards can be conducted.
The aggregation cards are built with TUPP and cross connection functions, providing channel cross connection and cascading of VC-12, VC-3, and VC-4 between tributary cards, between tributary card and aggregation card, and between aggregation cards. The cross connection capacity of STM-16 aggregation card is full cross connections of 96 VC-4 and full cross connections of32 or 48 VC3/VC12 of VC-4 capacity; the cross connection capacity of STM-4 aggregation is full cross connections of 32 VC-4 and its sub-containers; the cross connection capacity of STM-1 aggregation card is full cross connections of 20 or 24 VC-4 and its sub-containers. The aggregation cards are built in with SDH device clock unit which complies with ITU-T G.813 standard and has one channel of clock input and one channel of clock output. According to the configured priority, the device clock can be locked with uplink STM-N line clock, external input clock, tributary clock, or internal oscillator source, and maintain high-precision clock frequency when the reference clock is lost (holdover). The cross connection and clock units of two aggregation cards construct a 1+1 backup protection.
